Track: Scott’s Lantz, Sexton pick up wins at Gibbs

CORRYTON, Tenn.  |  Scott High's and Bailey Sexton recorded wins at the Will Boggs Invitational at Gibbs High School here Tuesday (March 19), with Lantz winning in the 100-meter hurdles and Sexton winning in the discus.

It was the third win in two meets this season for Lantz, who finished with a time of 18.01 seconds to pick up the win. Northview Academy's Mia Northern finished second, with a time of 18.67 seconds.

Lantz finished eighth in the 300-meter hurdles, which were won by Northern with a time of 54.84 seconds.

finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles, with a time of 20.51 seconds, while Hayley Flores finished 10thwith a time of 21.76 seconds.

Henson also recorded a Top 10 finish in the 100-meter dash, finishing eighth, with a time of 14.4 seconds. That event was won by Knox Central's Evelyn Williams, with a time of 13.14 seconds.

Sexton won the discus with a throw of 74 ft., 4 in., beating out Gibbs' Zoe Smith, who finished with a distance of 68 ft., 2 in.

finished ninth in the discus with a distance of 49 ft., 3 in., while Torianna Swinson finished 10th with a distance of 48 ft., 11 in.

Sexton also had a Top 10 finish in the shot put, with a distance of 22 ft., 5.25 in. That event was won by Smith with a distance of 27 ft., 2 in.

Another highlight was freshman finishing third in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 7:05.29. The event was won by Seymour's Eden Smead, with a time of 6:00.31.

Scott High's girls 4×400 meter relay team finished third with a time of 5:38.15, behind Seymour's 5:00.13 and Gibbs' 5:12.88.

On the boys' side, just missed a Top 10 finish in the long jump, tying Northview Academy's Antione Humphrey for 11th with a distance of 16 ft., 5 in. The event was won by Claiborne's Tyrell Miles, with a distance of 21 ft., 2.5 in.
