Paving project to commence in Oneida
ONEIDA | A much-needed resurfacing of U.S. Highway 27 (Alberta Street) through Oneida is expected to begin this week.
Contractors for the TN Dept. of Transportation will complete the paving project from near Underpass Drive on the south end of town to near Bear Creek Road on the north end of town.
The placement of signage and other preliminary work has already been completed. The existing top layer of pavement is expected to be milled beginning this week.
The Oneida project is one of three paving projects in Scott County listed by TDOT for 2026. The others include S.R. 456 (Paint Rock Road) from Leamon Lane in the Pentecost area to Alberta Street., and S.R. 52 from the Morgan County line to its intersection with U.S. 27 in Elgin. That project will continue to the bridge over Clear Fork in Morgan County.
Meanwhile, TDOT last week awarded the uncompleted truck climbing lane project on S.R. 63 in western Campbell County to Rogers Group. The 12-foot-wide truck climbing lane extends seven-tenths of a mile west of the Stinking Creek Road intersection. The project also includes the construction of a turn lane at the S.R. 297 intersection near the Pioneer Post Office.
